A man has been arrested in Brighton for allegedly distributing homophobic leaflets.
PinkNews reported in August this year that a man dressed as a monk was distributing homophobic leaflets in Brighton, comparing gay people to paedophiles.
The leaflets stated: “The practice of homosexuality is both blasphemy against God and rebellion against nature.
“Homosexuality, as well as being a sin and a vice, is essentially a neurosis, a pathological condition, the result of several factors including childhood experiences.
“If the practice of homosexuality is acceptable, then in time any form of sexual deviation, perversion and experimentation will be acceptable, including the progressive lowering of the age of consent, taking it below the age of puberty, and thus legalizing paedophilia.”
A spokesperson for Sussex Police told PinkNews: “Following active liaison between the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) unit at Sussex Police and other forces in the UK, a 51-year-old man was arrested in Brighton on 17 November on suspicion of distributing homophobic literature in the city earlier in the year.
“The man, from Corby, Northamptonshire, has been bailed to 27 January, 2015, while enquiries continue.”
Similar reports of extreme homophobic literature have emerged from across the country this year.

A retired Church of England bishop has claimed that lesbians raising children without a father figure will lead to “delinquency”.
Michael Nazir-Ali – who sat in the House of Lords as the Bishop of Rochester until 2009 – previously chaired the ethics committee of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, which deals with fertility issues.
He told the Mail of lesbians raising children together: “This is social experimentation. It’s one thing for a child not to have a mother or father through tragedy but it is another to plan children to come into the world without a father.
“Research tells us that children relate to their fathers differently than to their mothers, and this is important in developing a sense of their own identity.
“In particular, boys need closeness to their fathers for a sense of security and developing their own identity, including appropriate patterns of masculine behaviour.
“The results of ‘father-hunger’ can be seen in [lack of] educational achievement and on our streets, where it contributes to delinquency.”
Scientists have uncovered the strongest evidence yet in the debate of whether people are ‘born gay’.
The largest ever study into the existence of a so-called ‘gay gene’, conducted by NorthShore Research Institute, looked at 409 sets of gay brothers in an effort to finally put the debate to rest.
The study identified two genetic regions – Xq28 an 8q12 – which seemed to be correlated to homosexuality in men.
Lead scientist Alan Sanders said that the work “erodes the notion that sexual orientation is a choice” – but said the study also did not identify a single gene which was the direct cause of homosexuality.
He stressed that a variety of factors – including genetics, upbringing and environment play a part in developing sexual orientation, which is complex and emerges over time.
Though some remain sceptical, neuroscientist Simon LeVay told theNew Scientist: “His study knocks another nail into the coffin of the ‘chosen lifestyle’ theory of homosexuality.”
“Yes, we have a choice in life, to be ourselves or to conform to someone else’s idea of normality, but being straight, bisexual or gay, or none of these, is a central part of who we are, thanks in part to the DNA we were born with.”
Richard Lane of Stonewall told the Independent: “While some people may choose to focus on the continuing debate of whether people are born gay or not, we’ll continue to focus on making sure everyone has the same rights and opportunities regardless of who they love.”
UKIP councillor David Silvester was suspended this year after he claimed that the floods to have hit the UK in December and January were caused by same-sex marriage and that homosexuality can be cured by Christian prayer.
A new way of reading the news, avoiding PC terms like “homosexual” and replacing them with more appropriate ones like “leftie, neo-commie”, is here.
The ‘UKIP Goggles’ browser extension, created by the Mirror allows a possible insignt into what UKIPpers see when they read the news.
Using the extension on PinkNews changes the headline: “Lord Fowler calls for decriminalisation of homosexuality around globe to fight AIDS”, to: “Lord Fowler calls for decriminalisation of that spiritual disease that causes storms and floods around globe to fight AIDS”
The extension also has fun alternatives for the words “women”, and “immigrants” to more UKIP-friendly terms.
Ahead of World #AIDS Day on 1 December, a bizarre new way to promote safer sex has been launched in the form of cartoon cat porn.
The video (NSFW), created by Austria’s Aids charity AIDS-Hilfe, features gay cats meeting up in a park and having sex.
During the encounter one cat poses the question of whether or not to wear a condom.
The message following the cat’s rough encounter is: “It’s okay to screw somebody’s brains out”, as long as the sex is safe.
Statistics from Austria suggest that the number of new HIV infections per year has begun to fall.
The October 11 killing of Filipino #transgender woman Jeffrey “Jennifer” Laude in Olongapo City has sparked an outrage in the LGBT community in the Philippines. Some theorized that the suspect, Pfc. Joseph Scott Pemberton, a US Marine, didn't know that Jeffrey was a transgender when he went with the victim inside a motel where Jeffrey's body was found.
Being Transgender or Gay is not a choice, being Transphobic or Homophobic is, so don't be a Twonk
