Been one of those days, who am I kidding more like few months. The two little ones are unwell again. Trying to keep the house warm is nigh on impossible as gas prices are so high and we are on a pre-payment meter. We ran short on electric the other day so we were sat there with a camping lamp.
I fully understand when you see in the news each winter of human interest stories of OAPs saying that they have to choose between heating and eating. The next news article will then show how much a Member of Parliament is spending on travel to work, meals and second homes. This is all listed as expenses, so they are reimbursed.
The social divide seems to becoming wider and people in poverty being looked on as an underclass. Day after day I talk to people who are attending interviews but so many people have applied that there is a little chance they will succeed. In the meantime the Department of Work and Pensions are sanctioning them leaving them in more of a mess as they have no way of affording to travel to interviews.
Next year we have a general election but I think it is going to take a miracle to sort this mess out.
Anyway I am rambling, probably because I am cold. Come on big energy companies give us little people a break.
Anyway keep an eye on your elderly, disabled and vulnerable neighbours.
